This Friday, April 4th, is the world premier of Martin Scorcese's new film Shine A Light, which documents the exclusive live performance of the Rolling Stones at NYC's legendary Beacon Theater. You may recall another concert flick directed by Scorcese, The Band's "The Last Waltz", hailed by some as the greatest concert movie of all time...ever. I've gotta say I got goosebumps when I first watched the following trailer. This movie looks awesome.
Jack White and Mick Jagger singing Loving Cup at the Beacon!?!?! Siiiiiiiiiiiiiick. I'm definitely checking this out on IMAX.

Air Zoo
Joshua Allen Harris has done a series of works around NYC including the one shown in the video below. I guess they are some sort of colored plastic bags that then inflate when a subway passes below. Very cool.

A Dreamtard salute to good ideas: The Handgun Holepunch
Sometimes ideas you think are really great....turn out to be really, really stupid. This is one of them.
Thanks Yankus for this find
Man Installing Satellite TV Shoots, Kills Wife
Patsy D. Long, 34, of Deep Water, was pronounced dead early Saturday evening after being shot in the chest with a .22-caliber handgun.
Pasty Long was standing outside the residence, helping her husband with the installation of a satellite television system. The couple's children were also outside. According to sheriff's department spokesman Maj. Robert Hills, Ronald Long fired a shot from the inside of their home after several unsuccessful efforts to punch a hole through the exterior wall using other means.
Ronald Long told authorities that he fired a second shot, then called out his wife's name and the names of their two children. When he got no reply, he ran outside and found his wounded wife.
Pasty Long was hit by the second of two shots fired by Ronald Long, the Henry County Sheriff's Department said."

iPhone version 2.0
AppleInsider.com reports today that the new 3G iPhone, which should be released in a few months, will feature an additional camera behind the touch-screen that will allow for video conferencing.
"A 3G version of the iPhone hardware due in a few months will employ two digital cameras situated back-to-back -- one on the front side of the unit behind the transparent touch-screen, and a second one on the back of the handset as it exists today. Combined with the mobile iChat application, the front-mounted cam will pave the way for live video conferencing over AT&T's high-speed 3G wireless network with computer-based iChat users, as well as other second-generation iPhone owners, according to Rose."
"That will be cool for the deaf I guess." - Dave

Trailer Park Boys...get to know it
So even though Dave, with the help of Eric, posted about this show on Dreamtard back in December, I decided to post about it again because I think it's very important to introduce this show to some of our newer visitors, and remind some of our older visitors about how amazing this show is. It's basically a show about some guys that live in a trailer park and have a "The Office" style camera crew following them around during their day to day illegal activities. I like to think of it as a mockumentary about how to live in a shithole and be a complete idiot. I personally think this is the best thing ever posted on Dreamtard, and this is quite possibly one of my favorite episodes ever...hope you like it. If you do, make sure to check out the Trailer Park Boys episodes link on the right where you can find every episode from all 7 seasons and the Christmas Special. It's a true gem.
There's a ridiculous amount of cursing in this show.......might want headphones.

You may not be able to understand him, but he is still the man. He is probably saying "I have sex with mad chics." That's just my guess.

St. Patrick's Day Midget Extravaganzafest....Rock On!

Well I don't know about you, but I thought Saturday was a really fun time. Many thanks to everyone that came and helped contribute to the cost of our buddy Daniel....it was absolutely worth it, and won't be forgotten soon.
Big thanks to John Benabe and Daniel over at dwarfentertainment.com. Those guys were on time, professional, and a hell of a lot of fun. Our leprechaun Daniel was a really good sport, and at the end of the day, just the fucking man. The guy really loved to party.
I also wanna give a big thanks to Georgi Richardson at georgirichardson.com who was on site to take the following photos. Check out her website...
Hope you all had fun...

Some John Entwistle for you...
John Entwistle, R.I.P. 1944-2002, played bass in a rock band called The Who. They play the theme songs to all of the CSI shows. He's pretty much the most ridiculous rock bass player of all time, without anyone else really even coming close. No one else makes the instrument sound like he does. Check it out. The first clip is a 1978 live version of "Won't Get Fooled Again" from the film "The Kids are Alright" with Entwistle's bass isolated...someone having taken the time to do this because it needed to be done...insane harmonics, triplets, tapping...you name it. The bizarre tone comes from Entwistle's "full treble, full volume" philosophy, so as to make sure he "could be heard past the fourth row". Awesome. Enjoy:
The second clip is the actual song from the film, for comparison in case you're unfamiliar.

I am so sorry...

...but we have to talk about this. Gubernatorial C-sucker Ashley Alexandra Dupre has reportedly made well over 1 million dollars in just shy of 3 days from internet downloads (at $0.98 per song) of her music on the heals of her central role in Governor Elliot Spitzer Prostitution Spectacular 2K8. Here is her song. This is pop culture. This is your life.

Toy Soldiers

Toy Soldiers are a 2-piece blues rock band from Illadelph, PA. The Tirefires shared the stage with them at midnight on a Sunday at the Trash Bar in Williamsburg and were highly impressed. They sound very much like the Black Keys, which is to be expected, but it really doesn't matter. They have great songs, less than conventional arrangements, and are just that good. They'll be co-headlining the Annex with said Tirefires on Saturday May 17th. Check them out at theirspace. They're good.

King of Spring Skate Contest

So remember that skatepark on 12th and A I was telling you about? Well they're holding a pro/am competition there Sunday April 20th (brahhh) called the KING OF SPRING. There will be $3,000 in prizes, a bunch of grilling, and a live performance by Brooklyn's Razor Tail. Word on the street is some pretty big pros should be appearing, we'll have to see.
I also had the privilege of skating this spot today, and have to say it is perfectly crafted with a skateboarder in mind. Nice work, whoever was responsible for that. I really like this spot.

Dreamtard Television Time-out
We've got a BIG week of television coming up boys and girls, and Dreamtard wants you to put down your computers (just for a little) and make sure you've got your Tivo all fired up and ready to go.
First, the second season of Human Giant premiers tonight on MTV (channel 20 in NYC) at 11pm.
Secondly, season 12 (WOW) of South Park begins tommorow night at 10pm on Comedy Central (channel 45 in NYC) with an all new episode entitled "Tonsil Trouble". Check out the ridiculously short and unrevealing preview below.
New South Park.....sweet.
Oh yeah, there's this show called LOST on thursday too.

Couple things.

First off. I saw the Black Lips last night with your fellow Dreamtard members. It was fun, I like their sound. It gets a little tired after the first couple songs, but it was cool. On another note, Busy P (Pedro Winter) was there. JLes gave him props, I was too star struck, cause I am a sissy. John did some hard core investigatory work and attempted to get Pedro to admit Justice would be in attendance Friday night. The response: all silence from the big guy.
Anyway, here are a couple tracks. I new track from Feadz "Suck It" off the upcoming EP Happy Meal he has coming out. And after that, a mini-mix from Trashbags Posee DJ's for Kidz by Colette. Thanks Kidz. Sorry no tracklist for the mini-mix.
