So some promising language from Dean Ween about the possibility of a Ween music festival in New Hope, PA sometime around Labor Day. This is what he posted today on his blog, BrownieTroop 666:
"Also, we are considering the idea of holding our own music festival at the end of this summer, somewhere in the vicinity of New Hope with Ween headlining the whole thing. Is this something that you guys would travel for, "WEENSTOCK?" (I know that name is gay-I just couldn't resist saying it. It'll be called something else.) We're taking a close look at all of the outdoor venues, parks, and amphitheaters in the area and we're trying to get a feel for the response it would get. This would most likely be around Labor Day and would mark the end of the one year "La Cucaracha" tour. Anyway, drop me a line if you like and we'll see you out there on tour in 2 days."
.....That would be kick-ass

From Lakai footware and the people that brought you "Yeah Right!!" comes Fully Flared. This video somehow came out in November without me noticing, but it has now drawn my attention. If you've never seen Yeah Right before, it was a video that used green screened skateboards and ramps in real life, to make it look like skaters were either floating, or guys could jump like 10 feet high. One of my favorite videos ever...hands down. In the same vein as the CGI skateboards, check out the gimmick involved in Fully Flared:

Have you seen these commercials recently that star all these little babies? They'll show a baby laughing and at the end say, "Laughter can add 8 years to your life...So live longer, retire stronger, and never outlive your money" (how'd they really nail down that number 8?) and then that's supposed to make you wanna buy a bunch of life insurance.
The commercials are actually pretty hysterical because these hilarious little babies will just laugh uncontrollably at the stupidest shit, like ripping paper. I wish, for like a week, they'd run the same exact ad campaign with this video.

"Laughter can add 8 years to your life....So live longer, retire stronger, and occasionally make your kid cry by farting in his face...it's hilarious."

Hot Chip is coming out with a new album as well, scheduled for sometime next month. It's called "Made in Dark" and I have a promo copy which has this robot voice periodically saying "Made in Dark by Hot Chip, copyright". Even so, it's really great. here are two of my favorite tracks for you to check out.
If you like these guys and I do, a lot. Plan on heading to Webster Hall on 4/12 or to Highline Ballroom, the really cool new venue, on 2/2, either date, I think we should go. It looks like it could be a really good time. Here is a link to tickets that doesn't work because it's sold out, but lets try to get tickets on Craigslist. Let me know if you are down?

Now something music related. Finally we get more from Sebastien Tellier. The guy who put out his first single from his upcoming album "Sexual Sportswear" that I originally posted about a long time ago. It appears as of we have gotten a taste of yet another track. This one is called Divine. Check it out. I hear a little Beach Boys.

Some old photos from around NYC have been released by the Library of Congress along with photos from other locations. The ones below are just a couple I really liked.
Side-note. The picture of the New York Public Library is from opening day. Thanks to Gothamist for the post.

Gothamist reports that Goldenvoice, the promoters that put on the Coachella festival every year in Indio, CA, are planning a similar East Coast version of the festival to be held at Liberty State Park. For those unfamiliar with Coachella, it can be thought of as the "tastemaker" of American rock festivals, often featuring headliners that wind up being the following year's "next big thing". For example, Daft Punk's 2007 incarnation of their unbelievable pyramid light show extravaganza premiered stateside at Coachella 2007. Coachella 2007 also played host to Rage Against the Machine's first reunion set, as well as headlining spots from the Arcade Fire, Justice, and LCD Soundsystem. Forgive my indie snobbery, but this bodes much better for the East Coast music festival circuit this summer than the most-likely-doomed-from-inception Vineland Festival. Look for an announcement of the Coachella 2008 lineup in the next few days here. If you're a gambler, go ahead and put your entire savings on Vampire Weekend being on there.
