Lastnight I came across an advanced copy of Ghostface Killah's new album "The Big Doe Rehab" which is being released on this coming Tuesday. That means, you have 4 whole days to be the coolest kid on your block with the advance copy of this killer album. It's really great. I like it a lot. I loved his last album Fishscale but this is up there as well. Get it while you can before it's taken down.
Download
I also came across a copy of The Shocking Pinks album which is self titled. I had been recommended this album a while ago but couldn't find a copy. I did, and here is one for you too. Enjoy.
Download
UPDATE: I also managed to get my hands on a copy of the new Wu-Tang Clan album titled "8-Diagrams." This doesn't come out until December 11th, giving you all that much more time to be a badass with an advanced copy. Let me know what you think.

Tony La Retard

Cardinals manager, Tony La Russa pleaded guilty yesterday to a drunk driving arrest from back in March. La Russa was arrested when West Palm Beach police officers found him asleep in his dark blue Ford SUV...in the middle of an intersection. He was later arrested, and found to have a .093 BAC (...pussy).
Luckily for all you Dreamtard fans out there, we have exclusive video of the night in question....This is EASILY the worst butchering of the English alphabet I've ever seen. Um, did I catch a "2" in there??

A Message From Ween
So, apparently the guy's weren't too psyched about their performance in Boston. Geaner posted the following on the bands forum.
"Tonight the "burn" of touring began to settle . food, sporadic sleep, Traci Lords on the laptop to keep you company \ Being on the road can pretty much shred your humanity and turn you into a grunting, pooping hate machine that needs to pull over to shit at the Lowes because they have clean bathrooms. all of this and then is enirely your fault. I do know I'm lucky to be doing what I'm doing. I need someone to wrap me up in a nice wool blanket and feed me soup. Aside from that, Boston was ok. We've been worse! I'm going to crawl under my covers to sleep. I love you guys. -GW"
Then the manager posted this. I particularly love the last line.
"I was told the show was delayed due to a malfunctioning fire alarm. I think the waiting (plus some road weariness) might have put the band off. That time between sound check and actually going on-stage seems interminable, and to have to wait even longer ... it's tough on the band (all their drugs have already peaked!!)
but, I realize now that they probably need a little more time off in between legs of the tour. They are just not youngsters anymore (however ... I wish *I* were 37 )
oh, I should add that they are making NYC into a big deal - I think the nerves have set in already! "
Thanks again to Yankus and Squeeky.
...Hail Boognish.

French Touch
If you haven't noticed, the French music/electro scene is most certainly reaching into other musical genres, namely rap/r&b. Kanye West's new album Graduation might as well pay royalty to the French electro scene. Aside from having sampled Daft Punk the whole album has beats and hooks that are clearly lifted from electronic music. Anyway below is Snoop Dog's new video. It's most certainly a change for Snoop. It feels a lot like Chromeo with the talk box and all.
Speaking of the French. If you haven't heard of Sebastien Tellier the guy is the man. As illustrated in the picture he is friends with Daft Punk but his music is most certainly different. His biggest hit La Ritournelle is really amazing and the video is included below. Sebastien's most recent work is a single called Sexual Sportwear which is also pretty amazing. Below the video I have included SebastiAn's (of Ed Banger Records fame)remix which is totally sweet and really changes the feel of the original. Enjoy.

New Feature
So in an effort to spread word about the site we have added a button you can see below each post we make. If you drag your cursor over the button you will see a small drop down window which will allow you to select a number of websites, facebook, myspace, etc. This will allow you share articles or posts we have on this site on facebook, myspace, whatever. I know no one will use it but in the off chance you do. There it is.

Tuldowny

Tuldowny is finally coming. Well, not really, but according to my source (gothamist) there is a festival coming to Southern New Jersey called Vineland. Its supposed to provide competition or be on the same level in terms of size as Bonnaroo. Which is terrific. The organizers are the same ones behind the Glastonbury festival in Britain and Bonnaroo. This sounds terrific. Click the link to sign up for info regarding times and line-up. Long story short, we can look forward to seeing freaks like the ones above sometime this summer. Terrific.

Boognish

For the Ween fans. I came across this cover story regarding Ween and had to pass it along. I really love the quote. Click on the cover to head over to the magazine's website where I am assuming you can find clips or the entire article. Enjoy.
UPDATE: It should be noted that this cover is for the December '07 issue which is not out yet and therefore the article is not on their website. If you can find it on the stands I am sure it will be in there...clearly. Also if you notice at the top of the cover it says top 50 albums of the year. Ween did not make this list.

The The

I found out about The The through the Radiohead Webstream (where they covered the classic Smiths tune Headmaster Ritual, linked) thing a couple weeks ago. During one of the final DJ sets this track was played and I really liked it. I finally hunted it down and looked into the band called The The. From what I can gather they weren't very popular minus this track which came out in 1982 and was mildly successful on the radio. Other then that they focus a lot on other side projects, art, writing, etc. Let me know what you think.

Epicly Awesome
I know Vice gets a bad wrap for being so super duper hipster but its consistently funny and has some pretty interesting material. Their kinda new (its been out for a little while now) TV channel has some great shows like Epicly Later'd and the standard Do's and Don'ts videos are always worth a laugh. Check it out.

Heres a question: When the fuck is Human Giant coming back to TV its fucking hilarious. God damnit these guys are funny. It's like Mr. Show, but NOW, in future time. Below is one of my favorite clips. "But you can't bury a dead indian in a Sbarros..."
And speaking if Mr. Show, if you haven't seen these episodes your a fucking idiot. There I said it.

Mondrian SoHo - A hotel for the Rich and Ridiculous

L.A's famous upscale, trendy, and ridiculous hotel, the Mondrian, is making it's long-awaited debut in NYC's downtown area of SoHo. The Mondrian, most notably occupied for a month by Vincent Chase and Eric on HBO's "Entourage", will open up it's flagship hotel in New York City in late 2009. In similar fashion to other SoHo hotels, the Mondrian will be on the cutting edge of hotel architecture, and push the limit on overnight rates. At $535 a room, per night, The Mondrian will be the only hotel in SoHo with views of the Hudson. At prices like this, The Mondrian will be sure to attract the wealthiest, most famous d-bags in New York, and probably get a few mentions on Page Six when Britney Spears stays there after a night of drinking, drugging, and overall being a stellar parent.
Renderings give you an idea of what the hotel will look like. (Note the rendering HAD to include the hipster drinking coffee and smoking cigarrettes on the street, judging people as they walk in and out)
This is what the bar/lobby area will look like. The light fixtures on the walls are actually motorized arms that light up and move as somebody walks by them. COME ON!!!
This is a rendering of a room in the Mondrian. This will look similar to the room that the NYC Police will eventually find Lindsay Lohan in, naked and dead in a pool of her own vomit and tears. (Not shown in photo: Lindsay's father pumping his fists and yelling, "Cha-Ching!")

Three Guitars. One Dream.
Whipple's band, The Tire Fires, has a bunch of new tracks, friends, opportunities, shows and general music related information. You may even find some whitty prose or ironic postings. Check it out and listen to their tunes. They need the money.....seriously, its getting uncomfortable...dude can I borrow your car...dude will you let me hold you....dude can I borrow some of your toilet paper.
Below is a video, this is not their music. It is however still hilarious. I am moving to Deepwater.

Danger

The electro out of France keeps on killing. These guys, called Danger, are surprisingly not on the Ed Banger label but are French and are friends and do make some pretty serious tracks. Below is my favorite track of theres. Plus their logo is a pyramid....I mean I know thats a little overplayed but its a pretty cool none the less.

This is one of the best movies I have seen in a really long time. Broken Social Scene doing the soundtrack didn't hurt. It's called Half Nelson.

Coming Up
Some shows that are on the horizon:
Ween this weekend (Nov. 30th and Dec. 1) at Terminal 5
This is a new venue and I haven't seen an actual band here yet. When I went for Justice it still looked like it was being renovated and it was fine for an electro/DJ show.
Daft Punk Release Party for Alive 2007 (Dec. 7th)
Studio B is inviting their regulars and Faux Punk a Daft Punk cover band (essentially just playing Daft Punk music all night) to celebrate the release of Alive 2007. Daft Punk's live album recorded this summer live.
